A change in my Occupational Therapy career direction led me to start volunteering at the Monday training sessions, initially as a form of rehabilitation while I recovered from illness and to be helpful to others. This transition allowed me to rediscover my passion for supporting individuals in their personal growth and development.
Having also been a Cub Scout Leader for many years, planning and organising sessions that are interesting, engaging, and informative is almost second nature to me. My experience in this role has equipped me with the skills to create dynamic and enjoyable learning environments that cater to diverse needs and abilities.
In October 2024, I was thrilled to be employed as the Training Coordinator. The Monday training sessions are a lot of fun, with as many practical learning opportunities as possible for everyone. I take great pride in designing activities that not only educate but also inspire and motivate our trainees. Seeing individuals grow in confidence, gain new skills, or participate in something new is incredibly rewarding.
Being part of The Café Project has enabled me to share my professional skills in a new area and allows me the time to work with individuals over a much longer period than anywhere I have worked before. This extended interaction helps build strong, trusting relationships and allows me to witness the remarkable progress our trainees make.
The atmosphere in the café and during training is welcoming and almost family-like in nature. I cherish the sense of community and camaraderie that we have cultivated, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause. Working at The Café Project is not just a job for me; it is a fulfilling and joyful experience that I am proud to be part of.
